The benefits of a good posture
Awareness, Regulation, Health & Wellness
Welcome to Humanspace! Every week, I share educational and practical tools to help you master soft skills.
Today, let’s talk about posture.
Whether you are a student studying for exams, or a professional working at a desk, one of the most important practices for your health, mental clarity and energy levels is your posture.
A good posture consists of sitting with your back straight, computer slightly elevated at eye level so your neck is not pressured, shoulders relaxed, and both feet on the ground.

A good posture will ensure that your spine is straight and unobstructed. This is essential because the spine is the station that hosts electrical signals between your brain and muscles through the spinal cord and nerve endings.
If the spine is consistently bent and pressured, it creates interference in your nervous system, resulting in muscle tension, reduced blood flow to the brain, and altered sensory processing. You might not become aware of it until it has already taken a toll on your energy levels and mental clarity!
Practice: To make sure your body is regulated, check in multiple times a day to make sure your posture is healthy, and your breathing is deep. If you notice that your posture is off, gently bring it back into a correct position and resume your activities.
See you next week for a new soft skill tip to add to your toolbox!
